In the 21st century, the typical interior design expert has a bachelors degree.  In fact, this day and age, the typical design firm simply will not even interview an applicant for an available position who does not have a bachelors degree.  It is a must.

Another trend when it comes to interior design today rests in the fact that most interior design experts are becoming specialists in different areas.  For example, there are people who are experts in commercial interior design while others specialize in residential interior design.

While competitive today, the job market does over a variety of options for the well trained and educated interior design expert.  In this regard, most people do end up working for interior design firms.  Some people do set up their own businesses and act as interior design consultants in freelance fashion.  Again, it is a booming market with a good deal of opportunity for a talented and well educated person.
