Dentists

Dentist came to be because of dentistry.  Dentist can be very well understood taking it from the meaning and context of dentistry.  Dentistry then is the profession or science of tooth decay prevention and the accompanying works to maintain its naturalness prevent diseases that might affect the oral cavity, the jaws and the face as it speak about human beings.  Taking this in mind, dentist then is one who practices dentistry.

Dentists detect, avert, and minister to teeth and mouth problems.  Dentists take out decayed tooth, seal cavities, read and analyze x-rays. They encouraged the right habits for dental hygiene and other facets of dental care. Dentists also manage and conduct anesthetics, give out prescriptions for antibiotics and medicines for dental purposes.

Dentists are adept with the use of a variety of dental apparatus.  These include, x-ray machines and drills more so, with mirrors, forceps, probes, and scalpels.  As safety precautions, dentists wear mask against infectious diseases.  

Dentists, more often than not, are general practitioners managing an assortment of dental requirements.  Dentists make do as bookkeepers and purchasers of materials and paraphernalia for their use. But the dentists also employ the services of dental assistants, dental hygienists, receptionists, lab technicians for assistance.      

There also field of specializations in dentistry.  There are nine specialty areas the dentists are divided into.  We have the orthodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, pediatric dentists, periodontists, prosthodontists, endodontists, public health dentists, oral pathologists, or oral maxillofacial radiologists.  They are engage in different kinds of dentistry work ranging from application of braces to straighten teeth, focusing dentistry for children, treating gums and bones supporting the teeth to replacing missing teeth with permanent fixtures. Today we also have cosmetic dentistry.  It is the alterations of some defect or flaws in the appearance of the mouth to what are pleasant to the eye. But the most common dental procedure for cosmetic dentistry is tooth bleaching.  This is applied to discolored teeth.

Most dentists are full time into service. But there some, especially the established ones work fewer hours.  But most dentists are into solo practice.  They have their own staff and they own the business.  Still some dentists have partners, while still some dentists work for other dentists as associate dentists.  

All dentists are required to go to school and passed the written and practical exams given by the government. They need to be licensed.

Aside from academic excellence, dentists must possess diagnostic and manual abilities. Dentist must also have good sight recall, exceptional ruling regarding space and shape.
