When entering the Pharmaceutical field, as a Pharmacy Technician, one can be assured that the industry is ranked as one of the top-growing industries involved in manufacturing. The medicines that a Pharmacy Technicians dispenses have saved millions of lives that would have been regrettable lost due to several diseases that affect a person’s daily life. It is believed that the medicines available on the market today have surpassed the health benefits that apothecaries could have even dreamed of centuries ago.

A Pharmacy Technician deals with medicines that are used for therapeutic, diagnostic and preventative measures. These medicines are designed to treat infectious diseases that used to kill many people in the past. Some of these diseases include tuberculosis, influenza, pneumonia and malaria. Many of the medicines, a Pharmacy Technician dispenses, treat diabetes, cystic fibrous, asthma, hepatitis and more health problems on a daily basis. Most employees that work in the field of Pharmaceuticals are known as Pharmacists or Pharmacy Technicians. This field does include Pharmaceutical manufacturers, Scientists who develop the life-saving medicines and Pharmaceutical Representatives who sell the new medicines to doctor’s offices and Pharmacies.

Many of the employees in the Pharmaceutical industry have a bachelors, masters or doctorate degree. This is true for sixty-percent of the employees in this field. Over fifty-percent of the jobs in Pharmaceuticals are in companies that employ over five-hundred workers. This ensures that a Pharmacy Technician hired has plenty of room for advancement in a fast-growing, large Pharmaceutical Company.

The wage of pharmaceutical employees is expected to rise over twenty-five percent in the next few years. This surpasses the usual standard increase of fourteen percent that most industries use to increase their employee’s salaries. Even when the economy fluctuates, heading towards a downside, there is a huge demand for over-the-counter medications. This is a need that only increases instead of declining so there are always plenty of jobs available.

One entering the pharmaceutical field can be ensured that the industry they have entered will continue to grow dramatically. This increase will especially be seen once the baby-boomers reach their geriatric years. There is always a need for educated and skilled employees to dispense medications.
