Child Read Help

As parents, we want to provide our children with a good start in education. Helping child read ensures future academic excellence. Language development begins in infancy, so it is important to talk to your child ever since he or she is born. As they grow up show your child objects during the daily activities or even as you play, for example you could point out the soap and water during a bath; or a ball during play.

We often sing to our children or recite nursery rhymes, this helps in building vocabulary. Reading to a child is one of the best ways of build vocabulary; you can start as early as six months. This is one of the best methods of learning.

Steps to help your child read

1. There must be appropriate reading material in the house, like books, magazines ad newspapers. You can buy books from yard or library sales.

2. Read aloud to your child, these could be stories, poems or even a magazine article. Make this a pleasurable activity.

3. Take your child to the library; this gives the child a wide exposure to all the books that are available.

4. Seek help if you are not sure  about your own reading abilities. You could visit the local library and become a part of the reading activities there. Community service centers, other social welfare organizations may also have child reading programs that could help your child. In a good reading program, the teacher is enthusiastic and discusses the books the children read. The children are eager to participate, asking and answering questions happily.

5. If you feel that your child has reading problems, then you could ask the library or the school nearby for support. In case, the child has trouble seeing and he or she may need glasses. Visit an ophthalmologists and get the problem corrected a soon as possible.

6. If the child has learning disabilities that are recognized at a young age, then the solutions are often easier to find, and your child may overcome them much earlier.  However, do continue the process of reading aloud to your child. The benefits are enormous.

Helping your child read will be a rewarding experience in many ways.
