What is SAT

SAT is an abbreviated term for Scholastic Aptitude Test. SAT is also referred to as Scholastic Assessment Test. It is a standardized test that serves as a deciding factor in the college admission procedure. Educational Testing Service (ETS) is the primary body that administers the test. You can visit an authorized ETS center in your region for detailed schedules and registration details. SAT is a prerequisite if you are planning to join a college or a university. The scores of SAT can also be considered for scholarship purposes.

SAT Registration

SAT is conducted seven times in a year and you will need to register six weeks in advance for the test. ETS allows walk-in registration on the day of the test. However, it can be done only with prior intimation to ETS. The test comprises questions on Mathematics and English language distributed across ten sections to be completed in 3 hours and 45 minutes. There are 3 sections on reading, 3 sections on writing, 3 sections on math, and 1 section called experimental. However, experimental section is not considered during the final score. The questions are arranged in the ascending order of difficulty. The score for each section varies from 200 to 800 and maximum possible score of the entire test totals to 2400. You also get a percentile rank along with the SAT score. There is a provision to cancel the SAT score. However, you must inform ETS about the cancellation within 5 days from taking the test.

SAT scores

SAT scores are available on the collegeboard.com website within 3 weeks after the test. You also get a free SAT online score report from collegeboard.com website. You can get your SAT scores through phone at extra fees. You will receive an official printed SAT score report 5 weeks after the test. The same report will also be sent to your high school and to colleges as given in your registration form.
